Auckland Little Bark tour was ruling!

I have had such a lovely time up here. Played at Cassette Nine on Friday night with Ruby Frost and Chelsea Jade. Man Chelsea Jade is doing some wicked shit with Abelton. Impressed! Then up to Leigh where they are the best hosts in the world. Got a hens party up and dancing and some of the locals too. It was really maga fun. The great thing about this tour is I have made money, played to people who i wouldn't usually get to and had a great road trip. I am so coming back soon!

Hope is Rubbery

The Friendly Barnacle

It's true i used to be in this band, and i managed it. It sounds a bit flying nunnish mixed with the pixies? It was the first and only band i have ever been in. It was Warner Emery (songwriter, guitarist, drum machine beat maker), Lee Prebble (Producer and lead guitarist), Andrew Bain (Bassist also in Fur Patrol), Poppy Sinclair Lockhart (bassist and my best friend). Poppy went away overseas for a year so Andrew was our bassist while she was away. I managed the release of The Friendly Barnacles first EP (The Tides), which Warner recorded at home and I sung on. We put a band together so we could promote the album. We also recorded a single at The Surgery in April 2009 called 'The Robot'. We were only around for about a year and a half. Warner is the best songwriter I know. He taught me heaps about heaps of stuff. I hope we play together again one day.

It is strange having multiple musical personas

yes it is very strange referring to the Sophie Burbery side of the album in third person. It makes me feel out of sorts. Who am i? Will I ever know? How will I know?

Off to Auckland

I am off to Auckland on Tuesday, cos i am playing a couple of gigs. One at Cassette Nine on Friday, with Ruby Frost and one at Leigh Sawmill on Sat night. I am looking forward to the adventure. I love touring. John Lake is coming to document my first solo tour. Whoop.

Sunday....Simon Sweetman is listening to my album!

So i signed into my facebook today to see Simon saying he was listening to my album 'Hope is Rubbery'. So stoked. I love his reviews. I especially liked the one he did a while back on the new arcade fire album. I sent my CD's off to some record labels yesterday too. I hope they listen to my album.
